Bharat Scouts Award for KK Khandelwal

Dr. K. K. Khandelwal, Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides. Dr Khandelwal has been in the Scout Movement since his childhood. He took part in many International Scout Events - ‘Workshop on Marketing of Scouting for Growth’ at Kuala Lumpur, Malayasia, ‘Asia Pacific Regional Conference’ at Tokyo, Japan and World Scout Conference in South Korea in 2008. Dr Khandelwal is also the member of Asia Pacific Regional Programme Sub-Committee. As an officer and administrator, he has earned laurels for his contribution in bringing reforms in both administrative and educational policies of the State Government. Presenting the Rashtrapati Scouts and Guides Award Certificates for the years 2007-08 and 2008-09, The President, Smt. Patil congratulated all the winners and said that these awards are recognition of their hard work and discipline. ‘Bharat Scouts and Guides’ is a movement that places ‘service’ before ‘self’, she said. All its members have been doing commendable work in fostering the spirit of national integration and promoting youth development activities. She called upon youth to inculcate right values in them and nurture the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of their personality.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society.
• This is achieved by:involving them throughout their formative years in a non-formal educational process
• using a specific method that makes each individual the principal agent in his or her development as a self-reliant, supportive, responsible and committed person
• assisting them to establish a value system based upon spiritual, social and personal principles as expressed in the Promise and Law.
VISION STATEMENT
BY 2013, THE BHARAT SCOUTS & GUIDES, THE LARGEST YOUTH MOVEMENT, WILL BE SELF RELIANT, VALUE BASED, QUALITY ORIENTED, WELL MANAGED AND OFFERING INNOVATIVE, CHALLENGING PROGRAM BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE YOUNG PEOPLE.
Our Fundamentals
Definition:
The Bharat Scouts & Guides is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by the Founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907.
Purpose:-
The purpose of the Movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.
The Scout Movement is based on the following principles:-
1. Duty to God
2. Duty to others:
3. Duty to self
The Method:-
The Scout/Guide Method is a system of progressive self education through:-
• A Promise & Law
• Learning by doing
• Patrol System (Membership of small groups under adult leadership)
• Progressive and stimulating programmes of various activities based on interest of the participants
The Promise:
The Promise for the Scout is: " On my honour, I promise that I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people and to obey the Scout Law"

The Law for the Scout:
1. A Scout is trustworthy.
2. A Scout is loyal.
3. A Scout is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout.
4. A Scout is courteous
5. A Scout is a friend to animals and loves nature.
6. A Scout is disciplined and helps protect public property.
7. A Scout is courageous.
8. A Scout is thrifty.
9. A Scout is pure in thought, word and deed.

The Haryana State Bharat Scouts and Guides

Today is the greatest day for Haryana Scouting . H.E.Governor of Haryana and Honourable Chief Minister of Haryana presided over the meeting of State Council in Scout Uniform at Haryana RajBhavan . We are also very grateful to Hon'able Chief Minister for announcing Rs 2 Crore grant for activities and raising the annual grant from Rs 20 lakh to 60 lakh. Credit goes to our dynamic State chief Commissioner Dr K.K. Khandelwal,IAS for this grand success. I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks to all DEOs/Deeos, and DOCs for the cooperation they have extended to make this event memorable. Congratulations to all the Awardees.

Three Days Introductory programme at GMS, Sector 14, Gurgaon

A three days Introductory programme for was organized at Govt. Middle School, Sector 14, Gurgaon w.e.f. 24-05-2013 to 26-05-2013 by The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Haryana, Gurgaon. Smt. Prem Lata, DEEO, Gurgaon, inaugurated the programme. More than seventy teachers(JBT/Masters/C&V teachers/Lecturers) participated in the programme. The participants were introduced to Scouting by Sh. Ramphal Sharma, DOC(S), Smt Ram Murti DOC(G) Gurgaon, Sh. Mithlesh Saini SM/Adventure Leader and Sh. Anil Yadav (CM). Sh. L.S. Verma State Training Commissioner(S), The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Haryana visited and shared his experience in scouting among the participants.
