Bharat Scouts Award for KK Khandelwal

Dr. K. K. Khandelwal, Chief National Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides. Dr Khandelwal has been in the Scout Movement since his childhood. He took part in many International Scout Events - ‘Workshop on Marketing of Scouting for Growth’ at Kuala Lumpur, Malayasia, ‘Asia Pacific Regional Conference’ at Tokyo, Japan and World Scout Conference in South Korea in 2008. Dr Khandelwal is also the member of Asia Pacific Regional Programme Sub-Committee. As an officer and administrator, he has earned laurels for his contribution in bringing reforms in both administrative and educational policies of the State Government. Presenting the Rashtrapati Scouts and Guides Award Certificates for the years 2007-08 and 2008-09, The President, Smt. Patil congratulated all the winners and said that these awards are recognition of their hard work and discipline. ‘Bharat Scouts and Guides’ is a movement that places ‘service’ before ‘self’, she said. All its members have been doing commendable work in fostering the spirit of national integration and promoting youth development activities. She called upon youth to inculcate right values in them and nurture the mental, physical and spiritual aspects of their personality.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our Fundamentals
Definition:
The Bharat Scouts & Guides is a voluntary, non-political, educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose, principles and method conceived by the Founder Lord Baden Powell in 1907.
Purpose:-
The purpose of the Movement is to contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.
The Scout Movement is based on the following principles:-

The Method:-
The Scout/Guide Method is a system of progressive self education through:-
• A Promise & Law
• Learning by doing
• Patrol System (Membership of small groups under adult leadership)
• Progressive and stimulating programmes of various activities based on interest of the participants

The Promise for the Scout is: " On my honour, I promise that I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to help other people and to obey the Scout Law"

A five-days Scouts and Guides Standard Judging Camp was organised by the Haryana State Bharat Scouts and Guides at Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Sector – 4/7 Gurgaon w.e.f. 14-12-2015 to 18-12-2015 as per Directorate of School Education, Haryana directions. The camp was inaugurated by the Distt. Chief Commissioner cum DEO Gurgaon Dr. Manoj Kaushik.
The event saw participation of 200 Scouts from 20 schools and 200 Guides from 15 schools from Gurgaon Distt. in the age group of 12-15. DOC(S) Sh. Ramfal Sharma, DOC(G) Smt. Ritu Sahgal, Scout Masters Sh. Mithlesh Saini, Sh. Rakesh Kumar, Sh. Suresh Lather, Dr. Krishan Pal, Sh. Sudhir Kumar, Sh. Mukesh Kumar, Sh. Rohtas, Sh. Satnarain Yadav etc. and A.E.O Sh. Virender Singh with his team were active in managing the camp.
The syllabus for the competition encompassed from Pravesh to Dwitya Sopan (pioneering, first-aid, tracking science, signaling, nature study), for scouts and guides members in the junior category and Pravesh to Tritiya Sopan (prayers, knotting, lashings, and camp life) for scouts and guides members in the senior category.
The event is being held annually to prepare the scouts and guides members for the Rajya Puraskar (Governor’s Award) and Rashtrapathi Puraskar (President’s Award). This (competition) is a preparation test for students. It is an aid to observe the standard of students in scouting in many aspects.
The event is held to showcase the talent and skills of scouts and guides members in projects, tent pitching, flag erection, making gadgets out of waste materials, handicrafts, first-aid, and cooking. Other events in the competition include self-cooking, playing, singing prayer songs, march past, map making and reading. Demonstrations and testing on first-aid techniques such as bandaging hand and foot, bandaging head, arm sling, first-aid for burns, fire-man lifting, lifting a person with fractured leg carrying a person on stretcher, back lifting, and front and back lifting were also conducted. A rally was also conducted on the theme of "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao"
The aim of scouts and guides is to develop the skills of an individual, foster personality development, and imbibe social responsibility.
On the occasion of closing, Dr. Manoj Kaushik And Mrs. Umesh Aggarwal awarded the winner petrols in various competitions held.
